My husband has recently taken a job at SVRMC and we are looking to buy a lake home in the area. How far does one have to drive to buy groceries, etc if living in the Bracey/Lake Gaston area? What is living in the area like? As newcomers, would we be welcomed into the community? Appreciate any info/advice. Thanks.

There is what we call the "Lake Food Lion" that's located on Eaton Ferry Rd. in Littleton, NC and that is approximately 20 minutes from downtown Bracey. If you are going to live on the lake it will be closer for you. I found a map of where it is for you www.foodlion.com/apps/StoreLocator/mapviewer.aspx?store=2538&address=2467%20Eaton%20Ferry%20Rd.%20Littleton% 20NC%2027850&phone=(252)586-7141&lat=36.5355&long=- 77.9436 There is also a large town near by about 10 minutes from downtown (20 min. from the lake), South Hill and we have a Super Wal-Mart and 2 more Food Lions. Along with a Home Depot, Applebees, Peebles, things like that. And yes people around here are very welcoming, it is the best of both worlds. Because there are people from all different parts of the country who are new to the area, who will understand your transition. And there are us locals, who are genuine and hospitable who can tell you everything about the area. We have a Community House that is open to all residents of Bracey and is a great way to meet new people and have fun. When you come to the area to search for homes stop by Bracey Mercantile and chat with me, Melanie and I will answer any questions and give you the inside scoop what our community has to offer. I hope this was helpful and happy house hunting. And we welcome you to the area
